ABOUT
Basbrun is the creative laboratory of Philippe Chrétien, a Montreal-based software architect and maker who believes technology is at its best when it’s a little bit weird. The name is a quintessentially Quebecois play on words that best translate to "total nerd". It reflects a core philosophy, you don’t need a lab coat to innovate; sometimes, all you need is a soldering iron and a 13th-century mathematical sequence.

In 2015, Philippe merged the Arduino ecosystem with the Fibonacci sequence to create the Fibonacci Clock. What began as a niche project for "nerds with style" became a global Kickstarter sensation, overfunding by 2,500% and shipping to over 50 countries.
By day, Philippe is a veteran CTO with 30 years of experience; by night, he bridges the gap between the virtual and the physical. From open-source hardware to artistic electronics, Basbrun is where code meets the workbench. It’s about creating objects that make you think, laugh, and—most importantly—build.
